T&G was founded by an experienced engineer with over a decade in the design and development of body armor and tactical gear. Having attended major industry conferences like SHOT Show, IACP, Enforce, and IWA, we’re deeply embedded in the tactical community. Combining technical expertise with a genuine love for the industry, T&G was born to serve a community that values performance, durability, and innovation.

Meet Our Founder
Andrew Chiang – Founder & CEO
Something never changes. Little Andrew touched his first BB gun at the age of 6, and … it was love at first sight. Ever since then, he’d go to sleep with his toy guns, and everything tactical has always been the LOVE of his life.
With a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from UC Irvine and graduating top of his Police Academy class, Andrew joined The Safariland Group as a Ballistic Engineer. The armors his team designed stopped bullets and saved the lives of many officers in the line of duty. It was then that Andrew realized his life’s calling: to design the best tactical equipment to protect those who protect.
Andrew later earned an MBA from UCLA Anderson School of Management, and followed his passion by joining Wrap Technologies as the founding engineer. There, he earned patents and co-developed the BolaWrap, the first-ever less-lethal remote restraining device.
At the end of 2024, Andrew launched his own company, Tactics and Gears, dedicating to the same mission from Day 1: to deliver the best knowledge in tactics and gear(s) to protect those who protect.
In his spare time, Andrew enjoys competing in CrossFit and The Tactical Games, meditating, cooking delicious and healthy meals, making cheesecakes, and spending quality time with loved ones.
